Maya Bay, the pristine location that won hearts worldwide through the cinematic lens of the 2000 movie 'The Beach', starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is no stranger to the limelight. However, in recent years, this iconic destination, nestled amidst the Phi Phi islands of Thailand, has found itself at the centre of a battle – a fight against over-tourism and the devastating effects it has inflicted on its delicate ecosystem. In response to these challenges, Thailand National Park authorities have confirmed a two-month closure of Maya Bay, from 1st August to 1st October 2023.
