Sri Lanka recently reversed its decision to double visa fees, a move initially implemented on April 17, 2024, despite warnings from industry players about the potential adverse impact on tourist arrivals. The initial fee hike included a service and facilitation charge of US$25 by VFS Global. However, due to significant backlash and operational challenges, the government decided to retract this decision on April 30, 2024.
