Day by day itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive and overnight in Jakarta (No Meals) 

Arrive at Soekarno Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, meeting service by our Jans Tours representative, and transfer to your hotel. 

Overnight in Jakarta  

 

Day 2 : Jakarta – Bogor (Breakfast) 

Breakfast at your hotel and then depart to Bogor Botanical Gardens located about 50km south of Jakarta in the city of Bogor. A huge world-class botanical garden, covering an area of around 80 hectares. Afternoon visit Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. This is 1,100 hectares of beautiful Indonesia in mini featuring full-scale traditional houses from all provinces of Indonesia and a huge lagoon where you can row around the islands of the archipelago or take a cable car across for a bird’s eye view.

Day 3 : Jakarta – Bandung by train (Breakfast) 

Breakfast at the hotel. You will be picked up by our guide and begin a Jakarta City tour taking in the National Museum, Sunda Kelapa Old Harbor where you can see the tall-masted Bugis schooners-the largest fleet of commercial sailing ships in the world. Passing the National Monument proceed to Gambir Railway Station to board your train to Bandung. For three hours the train winds around mountainsides, traversing bridges and snaking through tunnels built by the Dutch in the 19th century. The scenery is spectacular. Upon arrival in Bandung transfer to your delightful colonial-era hotel.

Day 4 : Bandung (Breakfast) 

A spectacular day unfolds as we drive up the mountains to the resort of Lembang. Visit the many fruit and flower markets before continuing our climb to the Tangkuban Perahu volcano. Here you can walk to the actual rim of this still-active volcano. On our return, we visit the Sari Ater Hot Springs where there is time for a refreshing swim in the hot mineral baths before lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch enjoys a traditional performance of angklung music. This orchestral performance played on tinkling bamboo instruments is guaranteed to enchant you! 

Overnight in Bandung 

Day 5 : Bandung – Yogyakarta by train (Breakfast) 

After breakfast transfer to the Bandung Railway Station to board the train for Yogyakarta. Today’s journey takes us through the fascinating rural countryside passing terraced paddy fields, plantations, and villages. Mid-afternoon we arrive in Yogyakarta one of the foremost cultural centers and former capital of the ancient Javanese Kingdom and transfer to the Hotel. Afternoon visit the magnificent 9th century Hindu Temple of Prambanan. 

Overnight in Yogyakarta

 

Day 6 : Yogyakarta (Breakfast) 

Breakfast at your hotel. Today’s sightseeing tour takes us to the Keraton (Sultans Palace) and also to see traditional Javanese crafts, silversmiths, and batik processing. After lunch at a local restaurant visit one of the great wonders of the world – the mighty Borobudur Buddhist Monument. There is ample time to explore and photograph this ancient monument built in the 8th century.

Overnight in Yogyakarta 

 

Day 7 : Yogyakarta – Surabaya by train (Breakfast) 

After breakfast transfer to the station and board our waiting train. The journey to Surabaya skirts a number of distant volcanos and passes numerous sugar cane fields on the lowlands. On arrival in Surabaya, Indonesia’s second-largest city after Jakarta, Sightseeing tour visiting Kayoon Flower Market passing the hero’s monument and Governors Residence with its colonial architecture i the city centre. Check into your hotel and overnight in Surabaya. 

Overnight in Surabaya 

Day 8 : Surabaya – Bromo (Breakfast) 
Breakfast at your hotel then drives to Pasuruan to visit the traditional harbor. Continue on and check into your hotel. A jeep will be waiting at the hotel to take you to explore Mt Bromo. Crossing the sea of sand, you can view Mt Bromo from the viewing point and then begin your climb to the crater. End of the excursion with your guide.

Day 9 : Bromo – Probolinggo – Banyuwangi/Ijen by train (Breakfast) 
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Probolinggo to board the executive train to Banyuwangi. Enjoy the views from the train as it crosses the eastern part of Java. Arrive at Banyuwangi and drive directly to Ijen. This excursion will assist by an English speaking driver only (no guide). 
Overnight in Ijen area 
 
Day 10 : Ijen – Bali (Breakfast) Breakfast at the hotel. 
This morning there is the option to take a tour to the Ijen crater at an altitude of 2.380 meters and with its sulfuric lake reflecting an eerie color over the volcano, walls to give an apocalypse-like impression. Then at the designated time, transfer by car to Ketapang harbor and take the ferry across to Bali. Upon arrival in Gilimanuk Harbor, transfer to South Bali and the conclusion of your Java by Rail Journey.
